“I was very small – probably 9 or 10 years old when I noticed a blood stain on the sofa. I was with my grandparents at that time and called my nani. She got a little flustered when I asked, “How did it appear?”. She immediately got a wet cloth and started cleaning it vigorously. Later I overheard her discussing this incident with my mom and saying something about the guests that had come over earlier that evening. I sensed something was wrong – that I wasn’t supposed to know” Unwillingness of teachers/parents to discuss menstruation with boys or men (as supposedly it is not considered to be their issue) creates negative attitudes and perception on MHM, and the same is reflected in their behaviour towards girls or women on periods. It’s time to change that. Let’s EDUCATE and EMPOWER the BOYS as AGENTS of POSITIVE PERIODS.
